Rob Barnum-Reece

As President of the Associated Students of the University of Washington, I will work tirelessly on behalf of all students. The success of the past one hundred years of ASUW has only strengthened my firm belief in the power of student-driven change. Only through collaborative effort can we ensure the continued success of ASUW for the next hundred years.

I am committed to:

Continuity of ASUW:
  • Expanding the Husky Pride Fund through attaining new funds for student scholarships to compel a higher degree of campus involvement
  • Continuing the success of the Husky Tee and Change Programs to increase to student involvement scholarships
  • Expanding ASUW entities' roles on campus in order to increase relevancy of the student voice for all in the campus community
  • Ensuring the continued success of ASUW programs through a broad-based dialog and improved communication and awareness of ASUW's efforts
  • Actively communicate with students of all communities in order to effectively solicit opinion regarding students' needs
  • Continuing ASUW relevancy to students by fostering opportunities for all ASUW employees to actively connect with other student organizations and programs
  • Promoting a community by maintaining an active and informative dialog and constructive partnership between campus communities

Preparing for the future ASUW:
  • Advocate on behalf of students to maintain reasonable costs of education at the level of the state legislature
  • Extend the student voice to the State Legislature in order to emphasize the need for increased support for higher education
  • Increase efforts to procure funding in higher education for mental health and childcare facilities
  • Lobby local authorities to expand the relevance of the University of Washington in Seattle and Western Washington
  • Lobby for further safety measures throughout all of the University District, as well as creating new methods of reinforcing current safety measures
  • Create a landlord review system that would improve students' options for off-campus housing
  • Increase funding for a dedicated commuter space on campus, to create a solidified commuter community
  • Foster and encourage new diverse ideas and methods through dialog in order to invigorate our future Association
  • Establish accessibility to the ASUW to all students through existing campus connections in order to increase involvement in campus community
  • Continue the rich tradition of the ASUW as a mechanism to enhance the student experience
