Andal Sridhar

PLATFORM STATEMENT
I’m Andal Sridhar (she/her), a junior studying Electrical and Computer Engineering here at UW, and I’m thrilled to announce my candidacy for President! As an Indian-American growing up in Shanghai, I come from a multicultural background, and I’ve used this perspective over the past three years to create a welcoming and inclusive environment in the ASUW Student Senate. This year as Speaker, I’ve expanded professional development opportunities for Student Senators, improved the quality of legislation and debate, and tirelessly advocated for student needs to UW administration.
I hope to apply this skillset and vision once more to:
❀ Address attacks on higher education from the federal government by fighting for funding of research in all subjects, especially sustainability, public health, and disparities in access for marginalized communities;
❀ Enrich our educational experience with expanded experiential learning and undergraduate research opportunities for all majors and all years, innovating non-traditional ways of learning and offering truly unique pathways to knowledge and success; and
❀ Leave no student without a voice in UW – particularly survivors of sexual assault receiving little institutional support, international students struggling to find their place in UW, and minority students facing systemic barriers to a full education.
