Sonal Virk

PLATFORM STATEMENT
Hi Huskies! My name is Sonal Virk, and I’m so excited to be running for ASUW Vice President. I’m a sophomore studying Human Resources and Finance with minors in Human Rights and Diversity. Outside of academics, I love spending time with loved ones, exploring Seattle’s amazing food scene, and advocating for immigrant rights. As ASUW Vice President and Chief Internal Officer, I’ll make sure ASUW runs smoothly while providing transparent, proactive leadership that truly connects student government with students!
If elected, I will prioritize:
- Advocating for Accessibility – Conducting a thorough review of campus spaces to remove barriers that hinder students with disabilities from thriving.
- Empowering Student Organizations – Ensuring student dollars directly support RSOs by optimizing ASUW resources to fund more events and initiatives.
- Improving Mental Health Services – Advocating to secure funding for UW Counseling Services to reduce wait times, expand staff capacity, and ensure students receive timely, quality support.
- Increasing ASUW Awareness & Accountability – Making ASUW more visible so students know who represents them, what resources are available, and how we’re serving them while publishing public progress reports to keep leadership accountable.
ASUW thrives by amplifying student voices. As Vice President, I’ll make sure ASUW works for you. Vote Huskies Unbound!
