Kisa Batool

Hey everyone!

I am thrilled to be running for the Director of Programming! Through this role, I will work to increase accessibility, raise mental health awareness among the BIPOC community, and amplify student voices on campus and share student stories.

As a first-generation Pakistani Muslim, being part of the UW community has been rewarding, but it has also helped me identify what resources and representation we as an institution lack. My experience as the Recruitment Chair for the UW Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity has prepared me to coordinate inter-ASUW collaborative programs. Additionally, being an intern for the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project and a volunteer counselor for the Crisis Text Line has guided my inclusive approach to working and advocating for underrepresented communities.

Informed by my values and experience, as your next Director of Programming, I will:

  • Meet with ASUW employees and RSO leaders regularly to find areas for collaboration and needs
  • Connect with LiveWell and the Counseling Center to support the mental health of BIPOC students through various events
  • Work with Rainy Dawg Radio and Arts & Entertainment to build a platform to uplift student creators on campus

Qualifications:

  • Recruitment Chair for UW Phi-Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, PAD (September 2021-Present)
  • Undergraduate Intern at the Violence Against Women’s Act, VAWA, Unit at the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project (January 2022 – Present)
  • Crisis Text Line Counselor (August 2021 – Present)

Organizational Memberships:

  • Student Senator for ASUW Student Senate
  • Active Member of the Pakistani Student Association
  • Committee member of the Social Committee for PAD
