Elections Administration Committee

Naomi Snow

Hello UW! My name is Naomi Snow, and I am excited to be running for ASUW President! Some fun facts about me are that I love oatmeal, my friends, swimming, dogs, lava lamps, the TV show “Community”, and powerlifting! I am dedicated to prioritizing the well-being and success of all students, with a particular focus on supporting low-income students, BIPOC students, first-generation students, students with disabilities, and student parents, ensuring that their unique needs and challenges are addressed and their voices heard.

I am running for ASUW President because I am passionate about this organization and making an impact on the community. I am ready to take everything I have learned in ASUW these past 3 years and lead the organization.

Here are my top priorities if elected President:

  • Address the food insecurity and lack of affordable healthy options around campus by making sure HFS hears and responds to student complaints, lobbying at the state and local level, while facilitating stronger collaboration between ASUW and the UW Food Bank.
  • Ensure every student feels safe and supported on campus, which extends anywhere from pushing for more gender-neutral bathrooms to further developing student nightlife safety programs.
  • Improving support for student health and sexual assault survivors. There should be affordable health care plans, campus-wide awareness of available resources, shorter wait times for counseling services, SANE nurses at Hall Health, and 24-hour crisis support and hotlines.
  • Unleash the full potential of ASUW by best supporting and empowering ASUW employees and always questioning the “why?” behind things. If something doesn’t make sense and is holding ASUW back, change it! ASUW has over a million dollars in wasted potential just sitting in reserves going unused every year.
  • Pushing for the construction of much-needed campus renovations, with a focus on the IMA, older dorms, and the lack of campus accessibility.
  • Reform the ASUW public affairs. Every year during elections, people campaign off a “lack of ASUW transparency and outreach,” yet nothing changes. That’s because the issue stems from the structure of the organization and not just who is in those positions!

As President I promise to serve as a leader and not just someone following a job description. I will serve with integrity, empathy, passion, and creativity. Thank you for your consideration! I hope I’ve earned your vote and as always, GO HUSKIES!!!
