Nathan Mitchell
Hey Huskies,
I’m Nathan Mitchell and I am running to be your next Director of University Affairs. In my two years of working as an ASUW senator and now the Senate On-Campus Committee Chair, I have advocated for working students and challenged the University to take more accountability for their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. As your next Director of University Affairs, I will continue this work by holding administration and faculty accountable to the needs of all students. To accomplish this, I intend to push the University to change its focus from the financial needs of the institution to the needs of the student body.
As Director of University Affairs I will:
- Ensure that remote and hybrid options remain available by pushing the Faculty Senate to incorporate them into instructor guidelines permanently.
- Be a meaningful voice for student workers in communicating with faculty and administration.
- Creating a process for joint resolutions between the Student Senates (ASUW & GPSS) and Faculty Senate so that students can advocate throughout UW.
- Bring back the Provost Advisory Committee for Students to make the provost accessible to student voices.
- Move the time of course registration to make it more accessible to students.
Qualifications:
- ASUW Senator for Students for a Democratic Society at UW Fall 2020-Present
- ASUW Senate On-Campus Committee Chair Fall 2021-Present
- ASUW Senate Liason to ASUW Legislative Steering Fall 2021
Organization Membership:
- Vice President for Students for a Democratic Society at UW
- Vice President for Young Democrats at UW
